Central Gonja District

The Central Gonja District is one of the 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 7 MMDAs in the Savannah Region. The Central Gonja District is located at the southern end of the Savannah Region of Ghana. It covers a total land area of 8,353 Km2, representing 12% of the total landmass of the Savannah Region. Buipe is the administrative capital.

As a Local Government, the Central Gonja District Assembly is guided by the principles of popular participation, decentralization and development. By these principles, the staff of the Assembly are also guided by the culture of the Assembly which hinges on loyalty to government, discipline, promotion of transparency and efficiency.
